I am dedicated to addressing the root causes of hair and scalp problems to help you reach your hair goals. For those with coily and curly hair textures, the path to healthy hair can be confusing. Many of us have been given inaccurate information, leaving us to navigate hair care alone. My mission is to simplify this process and provide the right knowledge and support.

My Personal Journey with Hair Loss
My interest in trichology stems from my own experience with hair loss. Over a decade ago, I noticed small bald spots forming on my scalp. Like many, I turned to YouTube remedies and adjusted my hair care routine. While I managed to slow the progression, some patches remained. It wasn’t until I had a scalp biopsy and trained as a trichologist with the International Association of Trichologists that I truly understood my condition.
I was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disease called Lichen Planopilaris, where the immune system mistakingly attacks hair follicles due to inflammation within the body, causing permanent scarring and preventing hair regrowth. For years, I had suffered from an intensely itchy scalp—especially when wearing weaves, which led me to try faux locs in the hope of alleviating the itch. Despite changing hairstyles and treatments, the itchiness persisted. It wasn’t until I delved deeper into trichology that I was able to recognize the signs of flare-ups and develop strategies to manage them. This knowledge allowed my hair to thrive where it can.
Throughout my journey, I faced misinformation from doctors who solely blamed my hair practices and refused to look any deeper and stylists who inadvertently worsened my condition with tight, concealing styles. It wasn’t until I empowered myself through education that I could advocate for the right care and finally receive a proper diagnosis.
A Hope for Scalp and Hair Health
Scarring alopecia’s are among the most challenging forms of hair loss to treat, and many are told there’s little hope for regrowth. While this can often be true, it doesn’t mean you’re untreatable. By addressing the underlying causes small improvements in scalp and hair health can be made, significantly impacting how you feel about your hair—and yourself.
At Holistic Scalp Hope, my mission is to share my knowledge, make you feel seen, understood, and supported on your hair journey. Early intervention is key, and understanding the signs of an unhealthy scalp is the first step towards healthier hair.
